Abstract
Rhetoric is a vital problem in Advanced English teaching.Based on some nondescrip trhetorical devices such as irony,innuendo,ridicule and sarcasm in Advanced English,the present paper attempts to distinguish between them in the nature,essence and context,so as to generalizesome rules to be followed in use,in the hope that this will help students identify and appreciate rhetorical devices as well as improve their writing and translating abilities.
