Abstract
Objective: To evaluate the long term results of right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) reconstruction with allograft conduits. Methods: From January 1988 to December 1997, a total of 165 patients underwent reconstruction of RVOT with allograft conduit 136 aortic conduits and 29 pulmonary conduits. The mean age of patients was 7 6 years (rang, 1 3 to 22 years). The mean body weight was 22 0 kg (range, 9 5 to 58 0 kg). The mean conduit was 19 mm (range, 17 to 22 mm). Results: The operative mortality rate was 20%(34/165). The mean follow up was (37 0±8 6) months (range, 10 months to 12 1 years). 5 and 10 year survival rates were 94 6% and 83 8%, respectively. Allograft functioning rates at 5 and 10 years were 83% and 58%, respectively. Conclusion: The satisfactory long term results could be achieved in using reconstruction of RVOT allograft conduit in the treatment of complicated congenital heart disease.
