Abstract

The study on maturity of lower Paleozoic marine carbonate kerogen in China is one of the frontiers and difficult points in oil gas exploration at present. It has been a big problem how to understand the heat evolution of organic matter in lower Paleozoic marine carbonate. The authors advance three up to date methods by inquiring into the conventional maturity parameters and the further study on the particularity of lower Paleozoic marine carbonate kerogen.(1)The average dimension X b of aromatic nuclear structure in kerogen which can be measured by the solid 13 C NMR techniques, exactly reflect the maturity of marine carbonate;(2)the double adamantane index X MD can be taken as the maturity parameter of high over mature marine carbonate; (3)reflectivity of marine vitrinites can well reflect the maturity of marine carbonate that is wanting in the nonmarine vitrintes. The maturity of lower Paleczoic marine carbonate in North China was measured in terms of these achievements and the results coincide with the geological backgrounds. The three novel maturity parameters are available to decide the maturity of lower Paleozoic marine carbonate kerogen from different aspects of organic matter.
