Survey of HIV/AIDS related factors among MSM in 3 cities of Fujian Province

Aim To understand the HIV/AIDS related knowledge,behavior and infection of HIV and syphilis among men who have sex with men(MSM) in Fujian Province and provide evidence for HIV/AIDS prevention and control.Methods A face-to-face structured questionnaire interview was conducted among MSM by snowball sampling and convenience sampling.Blood samples were taken to test HIV and syphilis antibodies with informed consent.Results A total of 966 effective questionnaires were collected,the awareness rate of HIV/AIDS basic knowledge was 89.9%,condom use during the latest sex with man was 71.3%;936 MSM accepted blood test,the infection of HIV was 3.0% while syphilis was 10.8%.Conclusions HIV/AIDS related high knowledge awareness and high-risk behaviors coexist,and the situation of HIV and syphilis infection were severe among MSM.More effective measures should be taken immediately to control HIV/ AIDS in MSM.
