Abstract
WC particles reinforced iron matrix composites were manufactured by the centrifugal casting technique. The mechanical properties, microstructure, interface reactions of the composites were analyzed. The results show that the WCp/Fe-C composite surface layer of 18-25mm with a volume fraction of WCp of about 70% was formed by the centrifugal casting technique. Its impact toughness reachesd 5 - 6J/cm2, the hardness of composite surface layer and matrix were kept at 63-65HRC and 50?5HRC respectively. The WC particles were partly dissolved, even separated, the matrix and surface layer of WCp/Fe-C composites were alloyed.
