Abstract
The geographical distribution of world heritage all over the continents and world was analyzes by percentage and density.Excepting Europe and America, the heritage number of each continent is direct interrelated with its land area. From Europe to Asia to Africa to America to Oceania, the space density of world heritage decreases progressively.Compared the percentage of their populations with the whole world, all kinds of heritages in Europe and Oceania are more than in Asia, the natural heritages in America and Africa are more too.The heritage number per ten million decreases progressively from Oceania to Europe to America to Africa to Asia, and that of the cultural heritages in Europe and Asia is at most, that of the cultural and natural heritages in America is close to in Africa, that of the natural heritage in Oceania is overwhelming majority. It is shown by counting up the land area and heritage number in different latitude zones, excepting the natural heritage in low latitudes is highest, that the space density of world heritage decreases from middle latitudes to low and high latitudes;it is the same in all latitude zones that the number of cultural heritages is most, the natural heritages is middling and the mixed heritages is lest.It is testified by comparing the percentage of all kinds of world heritage on the same representative parallel in the same continent that the natural heritage density in coastal area is higher than in inland, but its cultural heritage density is lower than in inland. These features are according with the reasons for the World Heritage Committee to elect world heritage and lay particular emphasis on certain types and their districts in recent years. In addition,it is undoubtedly significant to probe into the geographical distribution of immaterial heritage excluded in this paper.
