Study on TB/HIV co-infection prevalence rate and affected factors among HIV/AIDS and TB patients

Objective To investigate TB prevalence rate in HIV/AIDS patients and HIVinfection rate among TB patients in order to understand the affected factors associated with TB in HIV/AIDS and affected factors assoˉciated with HIV infection in TB patients.Methods321HIV/AIDS patients from AIDS special outpatient departˉmont and580TB patients from TB special hospitals were screened for TB/HIVco-infection,and investigation was carried out for co-infection affected factors.Results TB prevalence rate was30.5%in321HIV/AIDS patients(pulmonary tuberculosis was25.5%,extra pulmonary was5.3%),HIV infection rate was2.8%in580TB paˉtients;CD4cell counts,sex and income per month were primary factors making the HIV/AIDS patients to suffer from TB.Injection drug use and commercial sex behaviors played important roles in HIV infection among TB paˉtients.Conclusion The TB prevalence rate in HIV/AIDS patients is high.the lower CD4cell counts level,male,the lower income in HIV/AIDS patients are the main factors liable to suffering from TB HIV infection rate in TB patients is higher than general people.TB patients may be infected by HIV mainly through injection drug use and commercial sex behaviors.
