Abstract

Objective To discuss the effects of Angle Class II malocclusion in young adults by fixed appliance combined with improved Twin-block appliance. Methods 15 cases of patients aged 13.5~20 years with Angle Class II malocclusion were selected.Firstly the patients were treated with fixed appliance to adjust the torque of the incisors, then they were treated with improved Twin-block appliance. At the same time the fixed appliance was used to adjust the relationship of upper and lower arch.Cephalometric analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects. Results After the therapy, normal OB and OJ were obtained in all patients.A harmonious relationship and a better appearance had been achieved. The mandibular moved forward obviously and the lower facial height increased. Conclusion Fixed appliance can adjust the angle of the incisors rapidly while improved Twin-block appliance lead to the orthopedic effects. All the aspects contribute to an ideal relationship of maxilla and mandibular and a better appearance.
