On the Problem of Cultural Orientation of Gadamer

Any thought genre′s birth has its inevitability, which indicates its value and status. Gadamer′s hermeneutical philosophy and aesthetics can not make an exception. But it is a perplexing challenge to orient Gadamer′s cultural position in the logical chains of the 20th century. This challenge includes the complexity of Gadamer′s hermeneutical theory per se and the confused understanding toward western cultural stages. Based on conquering these two difficulties, this thesis argues Gadamer to be a liberal postmoderner (broad sense) and solves the lasting, puzzling cultural orientation problem preliminarily.
