A Study on Poverty Problem in the West Minority Region of China

The poverty in the west minority region severely restricts the development in the region. Relieving the poverty has become the primary driving force for development. Get out from under poverty will be an important criterion to examine and measure the development of the west. The population in the west minority region is quite dense, the scale of the poor population is big, the poverty problem is severe, it is difficult to get off poverty and re poverty rate is high. Because of the particularities of the regions poverty, we can choose two strategies to anti poverty. On the one hand, we should strengthen regional development aid to accelerate economic development in the west minority region, to increase its whole economic power and to enhance the ability to develop itself; on the other hand, the anti poverty strategy should aim at the poor population, and makes the poor population to be the direct beneficiaries.
