Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the clinical effect of self-etching adhesive and flowable resin in deep pits and fissures of young permanent molars sealant technique.Methods:130 childen aged 6-10 years old were studied. The split-mouth design was used in this study. The first permanent molars were randomly assigned into 2 experimental groups:A and B.The tooth in group A was sealed with flowable resin(Esthet-X Flow Densply)and self-etching adhesive(XenoⅢDensply),while the tooth in group B was sealed with sealant(ConciseTM,3M-ESPE)and phosphate acid system. The children were followed up every year, and the sealants were observed and evaluated. Results:The operating time of group A was(110±9)s,which was shorter than group B(237±15)s(P0.01).After 1,2,3 years, the retention rate of group A was statistically lower than that of group B(P0.05),while group B had more caries than group A(P 0.05)except 1 year.Conclusion:Self-etching adhesive and flowable resin have excellent clinical effect on caries prevention. They can be used in pit and fissure sealant.
