Abstract
Objective To understand the epidemiological pattern of measles in Ningbo during 2000-2005 and facilitate the policy making for measles control. Methods Descriptive epidemiological study was applied to analyze the data of routine annual report and the surveillance system on measles during 2000-2005 in Ningbo. Results The results demonstrated that 2933 cases of measles were reported during 2000-2005 in Ningbo, and the average incidence rate for measles was 8.50 per 100 000 population. The incidence rate in downtown was higher than that in suburb.987 cases (33.65%) occurred in floating population. The distribution was dominated by groups of ≥20 years adults,8 months-7 years old infants,39.44%,30.11%, and 14.12% of the total respectively. In 1755 cases,16.7% were immunized,48.6% were not immunized and 34.7% without vaccination records. Conclusion The incidence of measles in the native areas is creasing, the vaccination rate in floating population is low, so improving the rate of MV and Preventing measles remains to be the major task in disease control in Ningbo.
