The Relationship between High Sensitive C-reactive Protein and Prealbumin among Maintenance Hemodialysis Patients

Abstract

Objective:To identify the relationship between high sensitive C-reactive protein and prealbumin.Methods:Serum prealbumin(PA),albumin(Alb),high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP),hemoglobin and ferritin were tested in 192 mainte- nance hemodialysis patients.Results:Patients with an elevated hs-CRP level had a lower serum prealbumin compared with those whose serum hs-CRP were within the normal range(P0.05).Serum pre-albumin had a negative correlation with hs- CRP.Conclusion:Inflammatory reaction is a common status among chronic hemodialysis patients,it plays an important role in the formation of malnutrition.
