Clinical Research on Treatment of Depression with Electric Acupuncture and SSRI

Abstract

OBJECTIVE To observe the therapeutic effect of electric acupuncture and SSRI for depression. METHOD The patients were randomly divided into two groups. The 36 patients in the treatment group were treated with electric acupuncture and SSRI, and the 30 patients in the control group were treated only with SSRI. Changes in HAMD scale and the therapeutic effect six weeks after the treatment were observed. RESULT No significant differences were observed in marked effective rate between the two groups, but marked differences were found in HAMD scale and part of the molecules( P 0.05). CONCLUSION Speedy therapeutic effect was obtained in the treatment group with better result in relieving anxiety, somatization and insomnia.
