Abstract

Dongting Lake is the second largest freshwater lake in China,flooding for thousands of years. Lake accelerated atrophy since 1949,flood and drought frequently occurred. There are some new problems of ecology and environment. After study on environment and ecology problems in Dongting Lake,it was found that following five factors caused Dongting Lake ecological and environmental deterioration: lake macro shrinking,climate continues to warm,complex fragile of new relationship between rivers and lake,industrialization and urbanization of Dongting Lahe area,lack of authority regulations.
