Democracy, Autocracy or "Corrective Democracy" --On the debate about the regime suitable for China

The debate about Chinas regime became fierce with the introduction of constitutional monarchy and democratic republic to China. In the society dominated by the pursuit of democracy, there was still a voice persistently advocating autocracy. In the 1930s some liberal intellectuals urged the necessity of autocracy and finally begot the most sweeping debate in the history of China about what kind of regime really fitted China. With its special background, this debate promoted the discussions about Chinas regime. Besides democracy and autocracy there was another regime designed for China named corrective democracy. The debate also revealed values and beliefs. Although the debate arose because of the great dissension among different parties, we can still find some common characteristics of the liberal intellectuals.
