Abstract
During the course of guiding China's socialist development, Deng Xiaoping criticized the ultra- Leftist ideology of the Gang of Four and restored Marxist historiography to its true state. He also used Marxist historiography theory to guide research into the history of the PRC, and he put forward innovative theories,principles and methods for researching that history. In this way,he provided intellectual weaponry for developing contemporary Marxist historiography and national history research.
