Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical value of99mTc- MIBI SPECT /CT imaging for diagnosis of secondary hyperparathyroidism( SHPT),and to investigate the effect of possible factors on the parathyroid imaging. Methods A total of 35 patients were selected in this study. Five minutes, thirty minutes( early phase) and two hours( delayed phase) after intravenous injection of99mTc—MIBI( 740MBq),dual- phase planar imaging was performed, followed by SPECT /CT imaging over neck and chest. Thirty- five SHPT patients were compared by both planar imaging and SPECT /CT imaging, while diagnosis of twenty- nine patients included was confirmed by pathology. χ2- test was used to compare the results of planar and SPECT /CT imaging using SPSS 16. 0 software. Results Compared to71. 43%( 25 /35) of the positive rate in planar imaging, the positive rate of the SPECT /CT imaging was 91. 43%( 32 /35). Difference in the positive rates between planar and SPECT /CT imaging was statistically significant( χ2= 5. 1429,P 0. 05). Conclusions SPECT /CT imaging is more efficient than planar imaging for the fusion imaging and CT diagnosis of parathyroid glands with secondary hyperparathyroidism. SPECT /CT parathyroid imaging combined with CT scan can provide more information about localization of the lesions, which highly improve the positive rate of parathyroids.
