Abstract

Die steel was quenched at different temperatures. The effects of quenching temperature on the microstructure,microhardness and impact toughness of die steel were analyzed. The results show that when the quenching temperature is during 980 ℃ and 1160 ℃, there are mainly martensite, austenite and carbide in die steel group. The microstructure changes a lot with the increase of quenching temperature. The hardness reaches the maximum value of 58.6 HRC at 1100 ℃. The impact toughness increases with the quenching temperature increasing at 1080 ℃. When the quenching temperature is 1080 ℃, the impact toughness of steel reaches the maximum value of 186.2 J/cm~2.
