Abstract
Li Shangyin was a distinguished lyric poet of late Tang Dynasty.His poetic images are rich and colorful.This paper discusses it is just because of his personal bitter experience,frustration in politics and misfortune in love that he tended to choose delicate images to express his melancholy and sentimental feelings.His tragic life made his poetic lines deeply sentimental,and tinged with a touch of tender beauty.
