Abstract
Objective To evaluate the selective surgical decompression without spinal instrumentation for degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis. Methods Of the 82 patients,36 patients underwent laminectomy without facetectomy and 16 patients underwent partial laminectomy with facetectomy.30 patients treated with partial laminectomy with foraminotomy. The mean age of the patients was 67.5 years. No patients in the study was performed spinal instrumentation and fusion. Results The follow-up was 18~62 months.Clinical results show that 85% of the patients were very satisfied with operation. Two patients needed revision surgery by spinal instrumentation and fusion. Conclusions Properly identified lumbar decompression laminectomy is efficatious in the treatment of patients with typical lumbar spinal stenosis.
