Abstract
Methoxychlor is a DDT substitute and one of endocrine-disrupting chemicals which heavily pollutes the environment. It could also induce human carcinogenesis and has hematotoxicity and neurotoxicity. There have been many animal expriments on male reproductive toxicity of methoxychlor, mainly involving in changes in testicle, epididymis and seminiferous epithelium. But methoxychlor also has female reproductive toxicity, mainly affecting ovary, uterus, nidation of ovum of pregnant rats, which is an important aspect of endocrine disrupting toxicity of it and is of important significance for elucidating mechanism of action of methoxychlor that environmental toxicants pose female reproductive toxicity, and treatment and prevention of the repeoductive toxicity. This paper reviewed the reproductive toxicity of methoxychlor and its mechanism of action.
