Abstract

Objective: Caudate nucleus was reconstructed on computer to gain its anatomic data and provide guidance for the stereotactic neurosurgery. Methods: whole brain from a cadaver of 20 year old's man without gross pathologic changes was cut by milling machine and took a series of pictures. Caudate nucleus were segmented from these brain images and reconstructed with computer. Results: The 3D model of caudate nucleus was built and the data about extent, position, volume and surface area of caudate nucleus was obtained from the computer images. Conclusions: The computerized three-dimensional reconstruction of caudate nucleus and stereotactic anatomic research on it can be helpful to the functional and stereotactic neurosurgery.
