Abstract
Soil moisture and temperature were measured in a 2. 2m ×2. 1m black soil profile, and their spatial variability were analyzed by geostatistics method. The results showed that there was a great variability in horizon, the max difference of volumetric water content was 6. 5 percent, and temperature was 3. 0 ℃ in the same horizon, although soil volumetric water content, bulk density and temperature varied regularly in vertical. Due to a large variation of soil bulk density in the soil profile, soil gravimetric water content had a big variability,no mater what in vertical or in horizon. Soil volumetric water content was a useful parameter which could show soil moisture variability in soil profile.
