Foreign Literature and the New Enlightenment

Ideological liberation is the pioneer of social reform.The University should become one of the most important places for enlightenment in the transitional period of Chinese society from a traditional society to a modern one.Foreign Literature should take more enlightenment responsibilities due to lack of domestic ideological resources and the difference in Enlightenment spirit.This essay clarifies the concept of new enlightenment,reviews the bumpy road of enlightenment movement in China,advocates enlightenment education to university students in foreign literature classes by using universal values as contents for them to become open-minded,independent world citizens.
