Abstract
The Upper Paleozoic gas trap in the north of Ordos Basin is a typical deep basin gas trap. The major elements include the flat slope, abundant resource, gradually changed reservoir, low permeability reservoir intimately associated with resource rocks and good sealing conditions. The gas accumulation case study indicates that the Upper Paleozoic had advantage conditions, such as reservoir and seal being (arranged) in pairs, formation of the trap being matched with petroleum generation and migration. The (classification) of oil and gas accumulation patterns also indicates the exploration direction. The key is to search for large-scale stratigraphic and lithology traps in a gas belt. Contrary to that, the anticline trap and anticline-lithology complex trap are the favorable target areas in a water belt.
