Abstract

Describes the changing of the classical perchloric acid dehydration gravimetric method for determining silicon into the molybdenum blue photometric method to fast determine the content of silicon. After the sample is dissolved,in 0.1~0.6mol/L subacid solution, silicic acid and ammonium molybdate react on each other and form yellow silicomolybdic acid complex ion, then ammonium ferrous sulfate reductant is used to reduce the formed yellow silico molybdate complex ion into silicomolybdenum blue,of which the strength of blue is proportional to the content of silicon, based on which the photometric method can be used to determine the content of silicon. This method, easy to operate and rapid in showing accurate results, shortens analytical period and raises work efficiency by 24times.
