Abstract

These composites were consisting of carbon fiber and graphite as the filling and PTFE as the matrix. The tribological pro- perties of these composites under dry sliding were investigated on an M-200 friction and wear test rig. Worn surfaces and transfer films of composites were observed with SEM. The effect of cooperative lubrication of graphite and carbon fiber was discussed. The results show that hybrid fillers of carbon fiber and graphite considerably improve the wear resistance of the PTFE composites. Their carrying capacity and tribological capacity were excellent at high load. PTFE composite with 10% carbon fiber and 20% graphite content has best tribological capacity.
