Treatment of chronic alcoholic psychoses with tiapride

Abstract
Tiapride was used to treat 10 patients with chronic alcoholic psychoses and chlorpromazine was used in 10 patients for comparison. Tiapride was given orally 200-609 mg/d for 4 wk. Both groups showed good responses with no significant dif-ierence.However, tiapride group exhibited less adverse reactions. It is suggested that tiapride has the advantage of high effectiveness and low toxicity.
