Abstract

With corn starch as material, acrylic acid as monomer,N,N′-methylenedioxymethamphetamine acrylamide as crosslinker, potassium persulfate as initiator, the corn starch-acrylic acid graft super absorbent polymer was synthesized by aqueous solution polymerization method. The effects of starch milk content, initiator dosage, crosslinker dosage, monomer neutral degree, reaction temperature on the absorbency of the super absorbent polymer were studied.Through single-factor experiment and orthogonal experiment, the optimal synthetic conditions were determined as follows:starch milk content was 12.2%,mass ratio of monomer to starch was 4.5∶1,neutral degree of monomer was 76.84%,initiator dosage was 1.4%,crosslinker dosage was 0.5%.Under such conditions, the obtained resin had an water absorbency of 698 g·g-1with good water retention performance.
