Analysis of teacher smoking behavior and knowledge of Tianjin

Objective To understand the teacher smoking behavior and the knowledge of smoking control,and to provide the base for the work of the smoking control in teacher.Methods A sample of 600 teachers from the different kinds of schools in Hexi,Beicheng and Ninghe district.Results The teachers current smoking rate was 12.2%,smoking rate was 16.0%.The constitute of teachers smoking among the college,middle-school,primary school have statistically significant differences.About 27.4% teachers were smoking facing to student sometimes,8.2% teachers always smoking at work,27.2% teachers were smoking in the office.About 34.8% teachers had instructed the skill of refuse smoking to students.About 61.0% teachers denied the low tar or the low nicotine cigarette had little harm to the body,52.2% believed the filter tip could reduce the harm of smoking.About 92.5% teachers thought the school should forbid smoking.Conclusion School should hold many kinds of education activities and training for teachers,increasing the teacher awareness rate of the tobacco knowledge,helping the teachers quit smoking,and providing effective smoking control health education among students.
