Abstract
End rhyme, internal rhyme, alliteration and assonance are the most commonly used rhyming devices in English poetry, while in Chinese poetry, though end rhyme is also the most commonly applied, internal rhyme, alliteration and assonance are rarely seen. In C-E poetry translation, the translator should reproduce the tonal beauty in the original poem besides the artistic beauty. When tonal faithfulness fails, the translator resorts to creative treason in rhyming devices, such as internal rhyme, alliteration and assonance, so as to more perfectly reproduce the artistic beauty in Chinese poetry.
