Abstract

Types of pedestrian crossings play important roles in urban traffic, because they bring different conflicts and delays between pedestrians and vehicles.Based on the characteristics and the conflicts of pedestrians and vehicles at signalized road, four behavior rules are established. The inference processes of conflicts and delay between pedestrians and vehicles under different situations of pedestrian crossings are described, the delay model of ped-veh system is developed based on pedestrian crossings. Finally, with the VISSIM software,a simulation case of once and twice pedestrian crossings is studied by an 8-lane road in Beijing. The simulation results show that the twice pedestrian crossing could reduce the average relay of pedestrians and vehicles.
