Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship among peripheral neuropathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus, electromyogram examination, blood glucose and lipids. Methods Using electromyograph to measure nerve conduction velocity(NCV) and electromyography(EMG).Using automatic biochemical analyzer to measure blood glucose and lipids.220 cases of type 2 diabetes, according to symptom are divided into symptomatic group(115 cases),asymptomatic group(105 cases)and control group(80 cases). The age, disease duration, blood glucose, blood lipids were compared between symptomatic group, asymptomatic group and control group. Results In median nerve and ulnar nerve, the levels of SCV were significant differences among the three groups, the levels of SCV were significantly lower in symptomatic group than those in control group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.05),while there were no difference in the levels of MCV among the three groups(P0.05).In the common peroneal nerve and superficial peroneal nerve, the levels of MCV and SCV appear more significant differences among the three groups, the levels of symptomatic group were significantly lower than those in asymptomatic group(P0.01),while the levels of asymptomatic group were significantly lower than those in control group, the difference statistically significant(P0.01).In symptomatic group, the age, duration, and the levels of glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c),FPG,cholesterol total(TC) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C) appeared significantly higher than those in the asymptomatic group, the difference was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion Type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with peripheral neuropathy are often early clinical physiological anomalies.EMG changes in sensory nerve conduction velocity appear earlier,is observe to be a useful indicator of peripheral neuropathy, which is a valuable means of early diagnosis.
