Abstract

The effects of water Cd pollution on primary growth and some physiological indicators of rice seedlings were studied. Treatment concentrations of CdCl2 were (mg/L) 0(ck), 0.1, 5, 30 and 100 respectively. The experimental results showed that Cd2+ could inhibit primary growth of rice seedlings significantly. The length of plants and roots were shortened and the number of roots was reduced, for the reason that the contents of chlorophyll and dry matter accumulation of rice seedlings were decreased significantly by Cd2+ . Besides, root activity, content of soluble sugar and soluble protein were reduced, too. So the normal metabolism in rice seedlings was affected significantly.
