Study on Differential Innovation Efficiency of High School Based on Stochastic Frontier Analysis

Abstract

This paper calculated the innovation efficiency of universities in China and analyzed the regional discrepancy by SFA method with the panel data of 29 main provinces from 2004 to 2008.Through the empirical investigation,three results were contributed.The average innovation efficiency of Chinese universities was less than 0.5,with a trend of declining.The contribution of human resource to innovation efficiency was greater than that of R D expenditure.The regional discrepancy reflected the diseconomies of scale of innovation activities in Chinese universities.With the increasing investment on innovation activities,universities urgently need to enhance innovation capabilities and RD management.
