Abstract
The development of information technology has provided powerful technological guarantee for distance education. Modern distance education has informational, digital and broad band transmission. This paper systematically analyzes information technology and distance education and explains the streaming media which stands for advanced information technology in the application to distance teaching system, its characteristics, and the prospect of future distance education.
