Abstract

Objective To explore the relation between expression of matrix metallop roteinase-2(MMP-2) and malignancy in glioma. Methods The expression of MMP-2 in 10 cases of normal brain tissues and 45 cases of glioma were detected by immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase technique. The positive cells of MMP-2 were examined under binocular light microscope. Results ①The positive expression of MMP-2 in glioma was located in the tumor cytoplasm and endothelial cells.②The positive rates of MMP-2 in glioma of gradesⅠ、Ⅱ、Ⅲ and IV were 65.0%,86.7% and 100.0%.The expression of MMP-2 was correlated with glioma malignancy(r=0.627,P0.05).Conclusions The expression of MMP-2 is correlated with glioma malignancy, which may be helpful in judging the malignancy, invasion and prognosis of glioma.
