Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of phacoemulsification for cataract with high myopia.Methods Retrospective analysis of the clinical effects and complications of phacoemulsification and implantation of low or negative-power intraocular lenses in 89 patients(102eyes) with high myopia and cataract who visited our hospital from January 2008 to July 2010.Results Three months after operation,corrected visual acuity were less than 0.05 in 3 eyes,0.05 to 0.1 in 5 eyes,0.12 to 0.25 in 13 eyes,0.3 to 0.4 in 38 eyes,0.5 to 0.6 in 36 eyes,0.8 or better in 7 eyes.Got rid of blind rate was 97.06%,got rid of disability rate was 79.41%.38 eyes(51.35%) which the axial lengths were less than 30mm and 4 eyes(14.29%) which the axial lengths were more than 30mm had visual acuity 0.5 or better,the difference was statistically significant(χ2= 11.52,P 0.05) Main complications: intraoperative capsulorhexis failure in 7 eyes(6.86%),posterior capsular rupture in 5 eyes(4.91%),suspensory ligament rupture in 4 eyes(3.92%);Corneal edema in 15 eyes(14.71%) and uveal inflammatory response in 11 eyes(10.78%) were all recovery in one week after treatment,retinal detachment in 2 eyes(1.96%) were reattached by surgery.Conclusion Phacoemulsification and implantation intraocular lenses in patients with high myopia and cataract have fewer complications and recovery of visual function better after operation.
