The signification of VEGF-C,CD105 and RhoC mRNA expression in gastric carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To explore the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-C( VEGF-C),CD105 and Rho C in gastric cancer. Methods The real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction( RT-PCR) was used to determine the expression of VEGF-C,CD105 and Rho C mRNA in 62 tissue samples of gastric cancer and 62 specimens in adjacent carcinoma tissue. Results The expression of VEGF-C mRNA in gastric cancer tissues was obviously higher than that in normal control group( 0. 367 ± 0. 073 vs. 0. 121 ± 0. 058,P 0. 01); the positive expression ratios of VEGF-C in gastric cancer tissues and in control group were 53. 2%( 33 /62) and 8. 1%( 5 /62),and significant differences were found between the two groups( P 0. 01). The expression of VEGF-C mRNA and protein in gastric cancer had significant correlation with lymph node metastasis and TMN staging of tumor( P 0. 01),while no significant difference were found in gender,age,the size of tumor,histological grade and the depth of invasion( P 0. 05). The expressions of CD105 mRNA in gastric cancer tissues were obviously higher than that in normal control group( 0. 419 ± 0. 072 vs. 0. 214 ± 0. 058,P 0. 01); the positive expression ratios of CD105 in gastric cancer tissues and in control group were 88. 1%( 52 /62) and11. 3%( 7 /62),and significant differences were found between the two groups( P 0. 01). The expression of CD105 mRNA and protein in gastric cancer had significant correlation with the depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis and TMN staging of tumor( P 0. 01),while no significant difference were found in gender,age,the size of tumor and histological grade( P 0. 05). The expressions of Rho C mRNA in gastric cancer tissues were obviously higher than that in normal control group( 1. 122 ± 0. 211 vs. 0. 868 ± 0. 199,P 0. 01); the positive expression ratios of Rho C in gastric cancer tissues and in control group were 75. 8%( 47 /62) and 22. 6%( 14 /62),and significant differences were found between the two groups( P 0. 01). The expression of Rho C mRNA and protein in gastric cancer had significant correlation with the depth of invasion,lymph node metastasis,and TMN staging of tumor( P 0. 01),while no significant difference were found in gender,age,the size of tumor,the depth of invasion and histological grade( P 0. 05). Conclusion VEGF-C,CD105 and Rho C may play an important role in the pathogenesis,development and lymph node metastasis of gastric carcinoma.
