Expression of Ezrin and its clinical significance in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract

Objective To investigate the expression and its clinical significance of Ezrin in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.Methods The expression of Ezrin mRNA and protein were detected in 53 cases of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma and 53 laterotumor normal tissues by RT-PCR and SP immunohistochemistry,respectively.Results The positive expression of Ezrin mRNA were observed in 73.6% of esophageal squamous cell tissues,it was significantly higher than that in laterotumor normal tissues(20.8%)(P0.05).The positive expression of Ezrin mRNA was highly related to the differentiation and lymphatic metastasis(P0.05),but was not related to the genders of patients or the length,localization,and invasion depth of carcinoma(P0.05).Conclusion Ezrin may be involved in the genesis,development,and metastasis of esophageal squamous cell.The expression of Ezrin may serve as a valuable marker for prognosis of esophageal squamous cell.
