Abstract
The COD and residual volatile phenols in the wastewater of steel-making mill cannot reach draining standard after its treatment by a biochemical process.pH value, the addtional amount of H 2 O 2 ,filteration duration and the time of Fenton reaction have their effect on the COD removals in treating phones wastewater by iron chips-Fenton process are investigated. The optimal conditions determined by orthogonal experiments are as follows:the additional amount of H 2 O 2 is120mmol/L,pH=2.4,the filtering time is13min,the time of Fenton reacting is about 60min.Under these conditions, the water is treated by flocculation. Then COD and volatile phenols are about 55mg /L and less than0.5mg /L respectively. The COD removals are up to92%.The phone degrading rate are97.9%.
