Abstract

Objective To explore the combined detection value of CA125,CA199,CEA and AFP in diagnosis of malignant /benign ascites. Methods The concentrations of the tumor markers CA125,CA199,CEA,AFP were determined in the serum and ascites from 105 patients in the hospital from 2009 to 2012 by chemiluminescence method. Surgical method, radiographic means and pathology methods were employed to make a define diagnosis on the ascites of patients. The confirmation result was used to analyze the correlation of tumor markers detection and benign / malignant ascites. Results The levels of CEA and CA199 in both serum and ascites from the malignant group were significantly higher than those in the benign group( P 0. 05).However,the levels of CA125 in serum and AFP in ascites from both groups showed no significant difference( P 0. 05),while CA125 in ascites and AFP in serum from the malignant group were higher( P 0. 05). The sensitivity and specificity of joint detection in serum and ascites were much higher than the single detection and the test results from the ascties were more valuable than those from serum. Conclusion The joint detection of four tumor markers can reduce the limitations of the single tumor markers, showing a more credible result. Ascites test works better than serum test, worth to recommend in clinical diagnosis.
