The Effect of Omeprazole on Aspirin Antiplatelet Action

Objective To explore the effect of omeprazole treatment on aspirin antiplatelet action by examining the platelet aggregation rate.Methods Seventy-three patients with stable coronary heart disease were randomly to receive aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100mg/d combined with placebo(n = 37) or aspirin enteric-coated tablets 100mg/d combined with omeprazole enteric-coated tablets 20mg/d(n = 36).The platelet aggregation rate was examined before and two weeks after administration.The differences of the platelet aggregation rate were compared.Results After administration with aspirin enteric-coated tablet s or omeprazole associated with aspirin,the platelet aggregation rate was reduced significantly(P0.05).The platelet aggregation rate with arachidonic acid(ACA) was(43.7±3.9)% in experimental group and(40.2 ±4.2)% in control group(P0.05);while the rate induced by adenosine diphosphate(ADP) was(76.8±6.7) % in experimental group and(72.3±5.6) % in control group(P0.05).Conclusion Omeprazole did not effect the antiplatelet aggregation effect induced by aspirin.
