Soil Fertility of Castanopsis fissa and Michelia macclurei

Abstract

To study the soil water and fertility of Castanopsis fissa and Michelia macclurei and compare their effects on soil improvement,taking rhizosphere soil of Castanopsis fissa and Michelia macclurei plantations in a similar site condition and the same forest age( 12a) as object,using Ring Sampler Method and appropriate soil nutrient analysis referring Forest Soil Analysis Methods published by the National Bureau of Standards,soil water,soil physical properties and the content of organic matter,N,P,and K were measured. The results showed that water holding capacity and porosity in Castanopsis fissa plantation were higher than Michelia macclurei,and bulk density was less. The difference was not significant. Soil total and available N,P,K and organic matter were higher in Castanopsis fissa plantation than Michelia macclurei. The differences of total P and available P were significant. Others were not significantly different. This study showed that soil holding capacity and fertility were higher in Castanopsis fissa plantation.
