Abstract

Starting from design of composition of high modulus asphalt concrete material, this paper, through the mechanical performance test for asphalt concrete, analyzed the law how low-grade asphalt and additive amount affect the mechanical properties of high modulus asphalt concrete. The result shows that low-grade asphalt may increase mechanical strength of asphalt concrete; the modulus of resilience, cleavage strength and dynamic compressive modulus of asphalt concrete may increase with the increase of additive amount, and when the additive amount reaches 0. 7 % of the mixture amount, the average increment of the modulus of resilience may reach about 50 %; and for the asphalt concrete with additive, the accumulated deformation will reduce to some extent.
