Abstract

In order to investigate the dynamic tensile strength of rock-materials,the dynamic Brazilian disc experiments of granite and concrete under high strain-rate were produced on the modified split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB)with a thin copper circular plate as a pulse shaper. The results of analysis on experiments show that the failure pattern and the tension stress of rock-materials have the strong influence with the strain rate.On the other hand, the tension failure time of the rock materials can be seen as irrelative with the strain rate.Meanwhile, through comparative analysis,it can be seen that the dynamic tension mechanics performance of rock materials have the stronger sensitivity of strain rate than the dynamic compression mechanics performance of rock materials.
