Abstract
Objective:To investigate the needs of assistive devices in people with disabilities in Chongqing.and provide an objective basis for formulating subsidy and disposal policy and strategy of assistive devices for people with disabilities.Method:The data of 4990 disability people in Chongqing from the Second China National Sample Survey on Disability in 2006 was analyzed,and the needs of assistive devices were evaluated.Result:Among people with disabilities in Chongqing, the demand rates of assistive devices were high; and assistive devices were essential to the lives of many people with disabilities,but the services were insufficient.Conclusion:Assistive devices can enable many people with disabilities to participate community activities independently.Assistive devices distribution system should be improved to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities.
