Abstract

As a leader and promoter of regional economic development, the central cities can improve the coordinate development of regional economy through the leverage role of using the experience of a selected spot to promote the work in the entire area. From the angle of city competitiveness, the research tries to construct a evaluation system of central cities' contribution to regional development, employs the principal component analysis to calculate and sequence by taking the example of 9 coastal middle cities between Shanghai and Qingdao, and reflects quantitatively the functions of accumulation, expansion, service, innovation and comprehensive competitiveness and therefore, offers suggestions for the path choice of Lianyungang's building of a middle regional central city.
