Abstract
Trimethylolpropane palmkernelacid ester was synthesized from trimethylolpropane and palmkernelacid using stannous oxide as catalyst. The effects of reaction conditions including catalyst amount, reaction temperature, molar ratio, reaction time on esterrification rate were examined. The optimum reaction conditions were as follows:the amount of catalyst 0.05%base on the total mass of reactants, the n(palmkernelacid):n (trimethylolpropane) =2.80:1,the reaction temperature 205~210℃,the reaction time 5 hours. The esterification rate under optimum conditions reached 97%.
